About The Position
Nyman Associates is seeking a compassionate Special Education Teacher (Exceptional Children / EC Teacher) to support students with diverse learning needs in a school-based setting in Halifax, North Carolina. The role provides specialized instruction and educational support to students with disabilities. The teacher collaborates with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and school staff to develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs), adapt instruction to students’ needs, and support their academic, social, and developmental goals. Assignments may involve students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and students receiving Exceptional Children services within the General Curriculum. Requirements
- Valid North Carolina teaching license in Exceptional Children (EC), appropriate to the assignment.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and classroom management skills.

- One year of teaching experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction based on students’ educational needs.
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Adapt curriculum and lesson plans to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment.
- Implement classroom management and behavioral support strategies.
- Assess student progress, maintain documentation, and adjust instruction as needed.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, families, and school staff to support student success.
