About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Director of Medical Affairs, Medical Affairs Leads are based in each of the three provincial management zones outside Central Zone. This position will act as a senior resource providing zone based leadership, oversight, coordination and guidance on coordinated and integrated medical staff and operational matters. This role will serve as the key contact between zone and provincial medical affairs teams. The Medical Affairs Lead indirectly reports to the zone co-leadership model of Zone Medical Executive Director and VP of Zone Operations and works closely with the Site Medical Leads and Zone Department Heads to ensure the Medical Staff within the zone are supported while working within the NSH. Some of the duties in this role also include working with Zone Medical Executive Director, Zone VP Operations, and Zone Medical Executive Assistant (Zone physician and operational leadership) and provincial Medical Affairs leadership to provide leadership and strategic advice on the day-to-day management of operations and financial stewardship including zone medical leadership budgets, payment and process control; implement and track portfolio and organizational policies (portfolio reporting, issues management, communication, human resources, medical staff by-laws, etc); lead zone-level physician credentialing processes with provincial credentialing team; work with communications to implement zone-level activities and initiatives and to support zone level physician leadership engagement activities; work with zone medical education coordinators and residency program coordinators to support delivery of Medical Education within the zone; work collaboratively with Zone-level recruitment staff to support all physician recruitment efforts, specifically working with the physician recruitment staff to coordinate zone-level activities (site visits, return of service selection and placement, recruitment incentive processes, and other recruitment activities as required); represent zone and provide zone-level perspectives to medical affairs to help staff advance their objectives; participate and support Zone Medical Advisory Committee, Zone Credentialing Committee, and other standing physician committees as requested; support appointment and oversight of physician leaders within each zone: recruitment, selection, appointment, onboarding, orientation, contract management, support process for performance reviews and feedback to all medical leaders; Lead zone initiatives, projects or committees as requested by zone medical leadership. This role will be a key member of the provincial medical affairs teams and will be expected to lead key initiatives and or projects as part of the provincial portfolio in addition to zone level duties.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Administration (MHA, MPA or MBA) required
  • 3-5 years of recent and relevant administrative leadership experience with progressive accountabilities; preferably within a healthcare environment required
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and leadership skills with the ability to independently lead projects and/or initiatives
  • Ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships and partnerships with stakeholders
  • Evidence-based collaborative problem solving of complex multifaceted issues within the context of provincial policies and procedures
  • Critical thinking and analytical problem solving
