About The Position

The Embarcadero Media Foundation, a leading news nonprofit in the Bay Area's Tri-Valley, is seeking an editor to manage the daily operations of its East Bay Division. This division encompasses LivermoreVine.com, DanvilleSanRamon.com, and the Pleasanton Weekly, a recipient of the CNPA General Excellence First-Place award. The division serves as a vital hyperlocal news source for communities including Pleasanton, Livermore, San Ramon, Danville, Dublin, Sunol, Alamo, and Blackhawk. The editor will lead a team of reporters, freelancers, and interns in producing daily Express newsletters for each website and will assist the Editorial Director with the weekly newspaper publication. This role involves participation in weekly management meetings and contributing to the organization's strategic direction, focusing on delivering accurate, fair, contextual, and engaging journalism to foster community development.

Requirements

  • At least three years of daily journalism experience.
  • Experience managing reporters.
  • Sharp line editing skills.
  • Fluent in AP Style.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in journalism or related field.
  • Knowledge of Google, Adobe, and Microsoft tools.
  • Familiarity with WordPress platform preferred.
  • Understanding of issues of the Tri-Valley, Alameda County and Contra Costa County preferred.
