About The Position

The Earthworks Superintendent is responsible for leading the execution of heavy civil and industrial earthworks activities on mining and infrastructure projects. This role oversees grading, excavation, road construction, dam foundations, and site preparation works, ensuring they are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Experience in leading the execution of heavy civil and industrial earthworks activities.
  • Experience overseeing grading, excavation, road construction, dam foundations, and site preparation works.
  • Ability to ensure completion of works safely, efficiently, and in compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in contractor management, including providing daily oversight and direction to subcontracted crews.
  • Ability to monitor contractor performance against safety, schedule, and quality KPIs.
  • Knowledge of compliance with contract terms, scopes of work, and reporting requirements.
  • Experience in field leadership, supervising and coordinating crews and subcontractors.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications for earthworks and heavy civil scopes.
  • Experience in maintaining daily field logs and tracking progress against schedule and productivity targets.
  • Knowledge of ensuring construction activities adhere to project specifications, geotechnical reports, and compaction/testing standards.
  • Ability to support field quality control and verification activities, including density testing and slope stability checks.
  • Knowledge of environmental best practices for soil handling, drainage, and erosion control.
  • Experience in enforcing site safety protocols and participating in toolbox talks and safety audits.
  • Ability to promote a safety-first culture.
  • Experience in monitoring field conditions to identify and mitigate hazards proactively.
  • Experience coordinating the use of heavy equipment including dozers, scrapers, haul trucks, and graders.
  • Ability to monitor earthworks quantities, materials handling, and delivery schedules.
  • Experience interfacing with surveyors and quality teams for grade control and reporting.

Responsibilities
