About The Position

This position is for a large Earthwork / Civil Superintendent who will travel nationally for projects in the Energy Area. The role involves scheduling, coordinating, and supervising craft employee activities on Civil Earthwork and Energy Civil Site Service construction projects. The superintendent will be responsible for the productivity of their crew, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance. They will also ensure the safety of their crew by understanding and enforcing OSHA and company safety rules. The role requires managing project schedules, identifying and communicating delays, ensuring work is done according to current drawings, and setting up job sites. The superintendent will also be responsible for planning and arranging inspections.

Requirements

  • Minimum of eight years of related experience working on heavy civil structure projects.
  • Extensive knowledge in large earthwork quantities, cut and fill operations, etc.
  • High working knowledge of construction practices and procedures.
  • Advanced understanding of construction scheduling and cost controls.
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong comprehension and usage of construction softwares.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and schedules all employees assigned to their crew.
  • Assumes responsibility for productivity of crafts, efficient use of materials and equipment, and contractual performance of the project.
  • Maintains all employee timecards; ensures employee time is accurate and turned in and properly coded.
  • Ensures the safety of their crew by having a full understanding of OSHA and company safety rules while having the ability to act quickly and effectively when an unsafe situation arises.
  • Direct work in large earthwork spread, energy and renewables projects (civil services).
  • Works with the project team to establish goals and develop accountability.
  • Produces continuous three week look ahead schedules to assign and coordinate work with both the employees on their crew and subcontractors.
  • Ensures that the project is being constructed according to the schedule and that the milestone dates are being achieved.
  • Identifies active and potential delays to the project and assures that these delays are being communicated to the project team.
  • Ensure that everyone is working with the most current drawings.
  • Inputs all correspondence into the drawing, request for information (RFI), etc.
  • Job site setup and equipment staging.
  • Ability to plan ahead to order and arrange for inspection of work that are required by the project specifications.
