About The Position

A subsidiary of R.J. Burnside & Associates Limited, Well Initiatives Limited is a recognized leader in the water services industry. We are a full-service water well contractor specializing in the consulting, exploration, development, and protection of groundwater resources. As our team continues to grow, we are looking for an Earth Resources Technician who is eager to build a rewarding career in a hands-on, field-based role that makes a meaningful impact. Based out of our Palmerston office and working primarily in the field, this opportunity is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their day, values teamwork, and takes pride in practical, outdoor work. Requirements

  • At least one year of water well or environmental consulting experience
  • Familiarity with Water Well Act Regulation 903
  • Strong time management, organizational, and communication skills
  • Knowledge of computers and experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, AutoCAD/GIS, and QA/QC processes is an asset
  • A valid class G Ontario driver’s license and a clean driver’s abstract
  • Ability to work 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Monday to Friday), with minimal weekend or overnight work. Flexibility to work overtime when required.

Nice To Haves

  • Well Technician License
  • Knowledge and aptitude of electrical, mechanical, or plumbing
  • Knowledge of heavy equipment, hydraulics, well drilling systems, and pumping equipment
  • Experience with trailer towing
  • Post-secondary education, including knowledge of drilling, geology, hydrogeology, or environmental science
  • Previous experience in hydrogeology or a related field is preferred
  • A high level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning
  • Familiarity with groundwater sampling, well installation, and geophysical survey is beneficial
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to customer service with a strong sense of urgency
  • First Aid, WHMIS (will train)

Responsibilities

  • Working outside in all weather conditions, with some office/shop work
  • Performing tasks involved in aquifer pumping tests
  • Assisting with pump installations
  • Data logger installations
  • Data collection and organization, such as geophysical logging, water level measurements, and groundwater sampling
  • Project documentation
  • Communication with team members and project managers to ensure project goals are being met
  • Participation in Health & Safety programs
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Organizing and inputting field data into electronic system
  • Performing quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) on collected data
  • Preparing data outputs in the form of figures and tables to support research and reporting
  • Maintaining and improving hydrogeological and geophysical tools
  • Troubleshooting issues with mechanical equipment
