About The Position

WSP is seeking an Early Professional Project Controls to join our growing team in Mississauga, Ontario. This role is ideal for a motivated early-career professional who is eager to develop a strong foundation in project financial management, cost control, and project performance within a collaborative engineering and consulting environment.

Requirements

Proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets, including pivot tables, lookups, and dashboard development
Foundational understanding of cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and project performance concepts
Exposure to project controls, engineering, construction, finance, or similar project-based environments.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with high attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment
Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain financial data to non-financial stakeholders
Ability to handle sensitive financial information with professionalism and confidentiality

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with earned value management (EVM) concepts
Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Oracle
Knowledge of scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project) is an asset.

Responsibilities

Monitor and track project costs against approved budgets and forecasts to support effective project financial oversight.
Analyze cost variances, including cost to completion (EAC/ETC), margins, and cost overruns, and provide insights to project teams.
Prepare and deliver regular cost reports, dashboards, and financial summaries using system-generated project data.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes throughout the project lifecycle, with a focus on identifying projects at financial risk.
Maintain project cost trackers, change logs, and financial documentation with strong attention to accuracy and version control.
Assist with change order management and cost impact analysis in collaboration with project managers.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to improve cost efficiency, reporting quality, and financial transparency.
