About The Position

Sullivan University is seeking a full-time Early Morning Baker for The Bakery. This role involves baking a variety of goods such as breakfast pastries, breads, rolls, and desserts, with a focus on quality and kitchen cleanliness. The baker will also be responsible for decorating baked items using icings, glazes, fillings, and decorations. The position requires a passion for baking and a commitment to high standards.

Requirements

• High school education or equivalent.
• 1-3 year of previous experience in a from scratch baking, pastry, or restaurant setting.
• An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
• Experience with cake decoration techniques is beneficial.
• Experience in high-volume production environments.
• Familiarity with professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders, and dough sheeters.
• Understanding of food safety practices and regulations.
• Ability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) and stand for long periods.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent time management skills.
• Proficient in reading and accurately following recipes.
• Flexibility, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
• Good planning and organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Adaptability and decision-making abilities.

Nice To Haves

• A Food Handler's Certificate/Card is not required but recommended or must be obtained within a specified time frame.

Responsibilities

• Decorate baked goods with glazes, icings, and toppings for an appealing presentation.
• Assess the quality of raw materials prior to baking to ensure high standards.
• Ensure proper storage and organization of baking utensils and equipment.
• Prepare bakery items according to customer requests, utilizing appropriate equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
