About The Position

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington is seeking a passionate leader to join their team as the Early Learning Director at YMCA Silver Spring. This role is responsible for leading the overall operations of the early learning childcare program, creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children, families, and staff. The director will guide a team of early learning professionals, implement the YUSA Creative Curriculum, and ensure excellence in licensing, accreditation, health, and safety. This is a high-impact leadership role focused on early childhood education.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, Recreation, or a related field (or equivalent)
  • 3–5 years of experience in a licensed, certified, military, or tribal childcare program with significant responsibility for curriculum development and implementation
  • 3–5 years of experience in a licensed, certified, military, or tribal childcare program with significant responsibility for staff supervision, training, and development
  • Ability to meet all pre-employment requirements upon hire, including drug and alcohol screening, criminal background check, Tuberculosis (TB) test, and CPR/First Aid Certification

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage daily operations of a licensed early learning childcare facility
  • Ensure the safety, well-being, and positive development of all enrolled children
  • Supervise, mentor, and support a team of teachers and early learning professionals
  • Recruit staff, interview families, and facilitate trainings, meetings, and professional development
  • Oversee budgets, forecasting, and financial accountability for the program
  • Maintain accurate program files, records, and statistical data
  • Ensure proper staffing coverage with qualified teachers and assistants
  • Build strong relationships with families, community partners, schools, and stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with all licensing, regulatory, and accreditation requirements
  • Promote program growth, quality, sustainability, and community engagement
