About The Position

The Early Learning Center Director is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing operating plans to promote program and/or membership growth for the YMCA. This role executes strategies to ensure members and/or program participants connect with one another and the YMCA. The Director also develops and controls department budgets, hires, trains, and supervises staff and volunteers, and provides leadership to the annual fundraising campaign. Additionally, the Director ensures compliance with state and local regulations, maintains program standards, and oversees safety procedures. A key aspect of this role is ensuring high-quality, member-focused programs through innovative development, evaluations, and staff training. The Director also coordinates special events and activities and provides required data and reports for assigned programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, recreation management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in program management, preferably in youth development, education, or community services
  • Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience, including staff recruitment, training, and performance management
  • Demonstrated experience in program planning, implementation, and evaluation
  • Strong knowledge of child development, youth engagement strategies, and behavior management
  • Ability to manage multiple sites or programs simultaneously
  • Must meet all state licensing and regulatory requirements (e.g., DECAL in Georgia)
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and occasional weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a school-age childcare or afterschool setting (YMCA experience a plus)
  • Familiarity with grant management, budgeting, and outcome reporting
  • Experience working with diverse populations and community stakeholders
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire)
  • Knowledge of licensing regulations and accreditation standards (e.g., Bright from the Start, NAA)
  • Bilingual abilities (Spanish/English) a plus
