About The Position

The Early Learning Center (ELC) at Battle Ground Academy, located in Franklin, Tennessee, is a co-educational, independent school serving Pre-K students. As part of Battle Ground Academy (PreK–12), the ELC fosters curiosity, intellect, and character within an inclusive learning community. Each of the three Pre-K classrooms is supported by a lead teacher and an associate teacher. The Associate Teacher partners with the lead teacher to support daily classroom instruction, preparing materials, providing individualized and small-group instruction, and stepping in to lead the classroom in the lead teacher's absence. The role also includes recess supervision, lunch assistance, and facilitating a variety of learning experiences throughout the day. We are seeking a compassionate, growth-oriented educator who is dedicated to collaboration, flexibility, self-reflection, and joyful learning.

Requirements

  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain.
  • Ability to successfully complete a background check, per school and state requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with Pre-K or early childhood-aged children.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace or similar technology tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the lead teacher with lesson planning and preparation, and lead small-group and individualized instruction.
  • Support daily classroom routines and programming, including large- and small-group activities, and facilitate developmentally appropriate experiences for a range of learners.
  • Provide one-on-one assistance, support each child's social-emotional development, and help with basic needs (e.g., dressing, feeding, and toileting).
  • Serve as substitute for the lead teacher as needed, maintaining continuity of instruction and classroom routines.
  • Actively supervise children during classroom time, recess, and lunch; maintain an organized, safe classroom environment; and set up and manage learning centers.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with the lead teacher, families, and colleagues; assist with student record-keeping; and collaborate to foster a positive school community.
  • Assist with morning care, material preparation, and other duties as assigned.
  • Support the school's mission to ignite and nurture student curiosity, intellect, and character; maintain instructional competence through ongoing professional development; and uphold high standards of professionalism and conduct.
