About The Position

We’re excited to see you explore the opportunity to join the Work-Integrated Learning and Career Education Centre (WILCEC) as a Career Coach supporting students in our Early Learning and Child Care programs. Reporting to the WIL Manager, this position plays a critical role in supporting student success by supporting students and employer-partners throughout their Work-Integrated Learning (WIL) experiences. You will coach and guide students as they prepare for meaningful careers, collaborate with faculty and employer-partners, and create opportunities that help learners connect their education to the workplace.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of experience working in the post-secondary environment or early learning and childcare environment/education environment with knowledge of employability skills and career development techniques and strategies in the early learning and childcare industry.
  • A diploma or degree in education, human resources, management or relevant field; equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Experience working with diverse learner populations and providing individualized support to help students achieve their goals.
  • Knowledge of career development, adult education, and Work-Integrated Learning principles and best practices.
  • Strong relationship-building, networking, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience developing and improving programs, processes, or services through a continuous improvement lens.
  • Knowledge of labour market trends, employer needs, and student employment strategies.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High level of professionalism to represent the NorQuest brand.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Willingness and ability to travel to employer-partner sites around Edmonton.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting students in their career journey through career coaching on resume writing, interview preparation, goal setting, job searching and more.
  • Creating opportunities for students to connect their academic experience to the real world through Work-Integrated Learning experiences.
  • Engaging all stakeholders: students, faculty, and employer-partners to develop mutually beneficial learning opportunities.
  • Developing industry partnership, connecting students with work placements, employment opportunities, and industry experiences.
  • Collaborating with WILCEC colleagues to continuously improve services, programs, and student outcomes.
  • Remaining current on labour market trends, career development practices, and industry needs to better support students and employer-partners.
  • Contributing to WILCEC initiatives, projects, events, and strategic priorities that advance student success and workforce readiness.
