About The Position

The Early Intervention Specialist for Early On provides early intervention services to infants and toddlers (birth to age three) and their caregivers as part of a multidisciplinary team. This position is open to qualified special education teachers and related service providers (e.g., speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, social workers). Services are delivered using a Primary Service Provider and coaching model to support caregiver capacity to address developmental needs within daily routines. Services are provided in natural environments, including homes, childcare, and community settings, in accordance with Michigan Early On and IDEA Part C requirements.

Requirements

• Candidates must meet Michigan Early On provider requirements through one of the following: Special Education Teachers: -Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree and Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with appropriate Early Childhood Special Education endorsement (ZS or ZN) or willing to obtain. OR Related Service Providers: -Current, valid Michigan licensure in an approved discipline, including: Speech-Language Pathology: Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred Occupational Therapy: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree with current Michigan licensure as an Occupational Therapist Physical Therapy: Master’s or Doctorate Degree with Current Michigan licensure as a Physical Therapist Social Work: Master’s Degree of Social Work and valid or eligible for School Social Worker approval from MDE (PSWC). Current Michigan licensure as a Social Worker (LMSW or LLMSW) Other approved related field: Current Michigan licensure or approval consistent with Early On provider requirements
• Evidence of successful work with infants and toddlers with disabilities, birth-to-three years of age preferred.
• Ability to work with young children and families in home and community settings.
• Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
• Ability to collaborate with team members.
• Ability to maintain required documentation and utilize district technology systems.
• Ability to travel between service locations.
• Ability to participate in required professional development.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are required.
• Ability to perform duties in accordance with district policies and procedures.

• Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) preferred

Responsibilities

• Participates in multidisciplinary evaluations and eligibility determination for Early On services.
• Assists in the development, implementation, and review of Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSPs).
• Provides early intervention services as specified in the IFSP.
• Collaborate with families to identify priorities, concerns, and outcomes.
• Provides coaching and consultation to caregivers to support implementation of strategies within daily routines.
• Conducts ongoing assessment and documents child progress in accordance with program requirements.
• Interprets evaluation and assessment results for families and team members.
• Maintains required documentation and service records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Collaborates with team members and community partners to support coordinated service delivery.
• Participate in transition planning for children exiting Early On services.
• Demonstrates knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices for infants and toddlers.
• Complies with applicable state and federal regulations, including IDEA Part C and Michigan Early On requirements.
• Perform duties consistent with district policies, procedures, and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
• Ability to work effectively with young children and families in home, childcare, or community settings.
• Ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form.
• Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary team members.
• Ability to maintain required documentation and utilize district technology systems.
• Ability to travel between service locations.
