About The Position

Mentor Community Services, a part of the Sevita family, provides community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role involves providing in-home early intervention specialized services for infants and toddlers where they can naturally learn and develop. The position starts as part-time with the potential to build up to full-time hours, depending on caseload availability. The coverage area includes Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Coachella, Indio, Cathedral City, and surrounding areas. This is a therapeutic services role focused on supporting children with developmental delays and autism spectrum disorders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health/human services-related major required
  • Some coursework in Early Childhood education or Human Development, Psychology, sociology, or related, is required
  • One year experience working/volunteering with infants or young children and their parents/guardians (if candidate has Bachelor's degree, then experience may not be required)
  • Valid CA driver’s license in good standing
  • At least one year of history as a licensed driver (in any US state)
  • Access to a registered vehicle with proof of insurance coverage

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree (or equivalent) PLUS 2 years of experience working/volunteering with children (if candidate does not have a Bachelor's Degree)

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule and provide weekly early educational in-home services for a caseload of infant/toddlers with disabilities including developmental delays and programs for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.
  • Administer and document all program assessments and updates accurately to meet timelines.
  • Design, implement, and adapt activities for language, cognitive, fine and gross motor, sensory, self-help, and social/emotional development, for each individual child, utilizing best practices.
  • Model effective adult-child interactions and provide written information on parenting, child development, and provide parents/guardians with written weekly activities and effective coaching.
  • Monitor, document, and share the child’s progress with the family and team.
