About The Position

Mentor Community Services, a part of the Sevita family, provides community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role involves providing in-home early intervention specialized services for infants and toddlers where they can naturally learn and develop. The position is ideal for someone looking to start or advance in a therapeutic services career, with training and advancement opportunities provided.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health/human services-related major required.
  • If you do not have a Bachelor's Degree: May substitute one year of full time college for each year of experience working/volunteering with children (For example, if you have the equivalent of two years of full-time college classes PLUS 2 or more years of experience working directly with children we will consider this as meeting the requirement).
  • Valid CA driver’s license in good standing.
  • At least one year of history as a licensed driver (in any US state).
  • Access to a registered vehicle with proof of insurance coverage.
  • Effective communication skills to manage relationships.
  • A compassionate approach.
  • A commitment to quality in everything you do.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Availability: most sessions will be during the day time on the week days, but some flexibility with availability including some evenings and weekend times may be needed.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule and provide weekly early educational in-home services for a caseload of infant/toddlers with disabilities including developmental delays and programs for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.
  • Administer and document all program assessments and updates accurately to meet timelines.
  • Design, implement, and adapt activities for language, cognitive, fine and gross motor, sensory, self-help, and social/emotional development, for each individual child, utilizing best practices.
  • Model effective adult-child interactions and provide written information on parenting, child development, and provide parents/guardians with written weekly activities and effective coaching.
  • Monitor, document, and share the child’s progress with the family and team.
