About The Position

Mentor Community Services, a part of the Sevita family, provides community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This role focuses on providing in-home early intervention specialized services for infants and toddlers where they can naturally learn and develop. The Early Intervention Specialist will plan, schedule, and provide weekly early educational in-home services for a caseload of infant/toddlers with disabilities, including developmental delays and programs for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders. Responsibilities include administering and documenting program assessments, designing and implementing adaptive activities for child development, modeling effective adult-child interactions, providing parenting information, and monitoring and sharing child progress with families and the team. This position offers training and advancement opportunities within the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in health/human services-related major required
  • If you do not have a Bachelor's Degree: May substitute one year of full time college for each year of experience working/volunteering with children (For example, if you have the equivalent of two years of full-time college classes PLUS 2 or more years of experience working directly with children we will consider this as meeting the requirement)
  • Note: if candidate has Bachelor's degree, then experience may not be required
  • Valid CA driver’s license in good standing
  • At least one year of history as a licensed driver (in any US state)
  • Access to a registered vehicle with proof of insurance coverage

  • Availability: most sessions will be during the day time on the week days, but some flexibility with availability including some evenings and weekend times may be needed

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule and provide weekly early educational in-home services for a caseload of infant/toddlers with disabilities including developmental delays and programs for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.
  • Administer and document all program assessments and updates accurately to meet timelines.
  • Design, implement, and adapt activities for language, cognitive, fine and gross motor, sensory, self-help, and social/emotional development, for each individual child, utilizing best practices.
  • Model effective adult-child interactions and provide written information on parenting, child development, and provide parents/guardians with written weekly activities and effective coaching.
  • Monitor, document, and share the child’s progress with the family and team.
