Early Intervention Developmental Therapist

Developmental Therapists (DTs) help children from birth to 36 months grow, learn, and thrive. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood, Special Education, or DHS-required field
- Required coursework per DHS standards
- Knowledge of child development, family dynamics, and social services
- Pursue and maintain Developmental Therapy credential through Early Intervention System
- Valid Illinois driver’s license & insurance
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience with children who have special needs preferred
Responsibilities
- Provide early intervention services including developmental therapy, screening, special instruction, coordination, linkage, advocacy, and support to children who are developmentally delayed, at risk, or diagnosed with a developmental disability.
- Design learning activities and environments that promote cognitive, social, and motor development.
- Support families with tools and resources to continue learning at home.
- Conduct developmental screenings and assessments.
- Develop, review, and amend Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs) with families and providers.
- Assist families in achieving and measuring IFSP outcomes.
- Plan and implement play-based therapy sessions using toys, adaptive equipment, and sensory tools.
- Facilitate referrals to additional services and community resources.
- Support families through our loaning library of therapy resources.
- Participate in community education and transition planning for families.
- Maintain professional documentation and uphold Early Intervention standards.
