About The Position

Join JFCAC Head Start as an Early Head Start Teacher, where you'll play a key role in preparing children for school readiness through engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experiences. You will create a warm, stimulating classroom environment where young children can learn, explore, and grow, supporting each child's unique strengths, needs, and learning style.

Requirements

  • CDA (Infant/Toddler or Preschool) required
  • Experience working with young children (required)
  • Ability to build strong, nurturing relationships with children and families
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stay physically active throughout the day
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred (9+ ECE credits)
  • Experience supporting children with special needs (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Create a warm, stimulating classroom environment where young children can learn, explore, and grow.
  • Use the HighScope curriculum to guide children's learning through hands-on activities.
  • Prepare the classroom environment to promote curiosity, independence, and development.
  • Collaborate with School Readiness & Classroom Coaches to plan individualized lesson goals.
  • Conduct screenings, review data, and support referrals for children with potential delays.
  • Modify lessons to meet IEP/IFSP goals and attend meetings as needed.
  • Step into Lead Teacher responsibilities when required.
  • Build strong relationships with families as partners in their child's learning.
  • Maintain communication regarding each child's development and progress.
  • Participate in parent conferences and home visits.
  • Assist with family events and activities that promote learning at home.
  • Support dual-language learning when appropriate.
  • Follow all child safety and classroom supervision procedures.
  • Document and report injuries, incidents, and safety concerns.
  • Support families with health follow-ups in coordination with the Family Coach.
  • Ensure children are released only to approved caregivers.
  • Report suspected abuse or neglect following agency policy.
  • Maintain accurate records, lesson plans, assessments, and family contacts.
  • Keep individualized plans updated for children with IEPs/IFSPs.
  • Participate in ongoing training including TBRI, Autism, and disability-support strategies.
  • Engage in regular coaching sessions and team meetings.
