NeighborImpact’s Early Head Start program provides comprehensive early childhood education and family support services to families with children from birth to age three, as well as pregnant women. Early Head Start aims to foster school readiness and social competence, ensuring children and families receive the necessary resources and support during the critical early years.

Requirements

• Level II Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, or Family Development or related field required.
• Within 18 months of hire: 120 training hours, or 11 college credit hours, in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.
• Level III Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, Family Development or related field required.
• Within 18 months of hire: 120 training hours, or 11 college credit hours, in social work, human services, family services, counseling or a related field.
• Availability for some evening and weekend hours required.
• Must have an initial health examination, and a periodic re-examination (as recommended by health care provider) so as to assure that employees do not because of communicable diseases, pose a significant risk to the health or safety of others, that cannot be eliminated or reduced by reasonable accommodation.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Proof of current auto insurance.
• Access to reliable transportation.
• Current Food Handler’s Card.
• Current enrollment in the Oregon Child Care Licensing Division Central Background Registry (CBR).
• Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification required within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Bilingual proficiency in both written and spoken English and Spanish preferred.
• Experience in Early Childhood, social services, health or family support programs providing parent education and support preferred.
• Experience planning developmentally appropriate activities for infants and toddlers preferred.
• Education or experience in working with adults in a helping and teaching preferred.
• Head Start or Early Head Start experience preferred.
• Head Start or Early Head Start parent or past parent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Encourage and support parents as their child’s primary teacher and nurturer.
• Provide early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services to eligible pregnant women, infants, and toddlers to promote secure parent-child relationships and help parents provide high-quality early learning experiences.
• Craft, organize, and document suitable educational activities tailored to children's developmental stages.
• Conduct weekly 90-minute home visits to monitor and achieve family objectives.
• Work with colleagues to coordinate bi-monthly gatherings for families.
• Integrate educational, social, and community involvement elements to support positive family environments and child growth.
