This role involves protecting the physical and mental health and safety of children, assisting with providing an organized learning environment that promotes healthy development and children’s skill growth, and supporting screenings, assessments, and ongoing evaluation of a child’s developmental level and progress. The position also supports opportunities for parents and family members to engage in their child’s development and in program services, and ensures appropriate practices to keep children safe during all activities. The floater will also support classroom activities as directed by the teacher, assist with transitions, and support the use of age-appropriate equipment and materials. Communication with teachers regarding child observations and potential developmental interferences is key, as is maintaining confidentiality. The role requires compliance with positive adult-child interactions and participation in staff development and continuing professional development.
