Early Head Start Childhood Educator
About The Position
Kansas Children's Service League (KCSL) is seeking a full-time Early Head Start Childhood Educator in Liberal, KS. This role is responsible for all aspects of the classroom, child supervision, and care, focusing on child health, development, and safety. The Educator will supervise classroom activities and ensure compliance with mandated outcomes, program rules, applicable laws, and program standards. KCSL, founded in 1893, is a statewide, nonprofit agency dedicated to protecting and promoting the well-being of children and families through programs in health, safety, and education. They aim to help children and parents develop skills for success and break cycles of neglect, abuse, and trauma. KCSL is the Kansas chapter of Prevent Child Abuse America and Circle of Parents.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and comprehend English.
- Demonstrated awareness of the challenges and strengths of children and families living with lower incomes and/or special needs.
- At least one year of paid experience working with infants and toddlers.
Nice To Haves
- Infant/Toddler Child Development Associate (CDA) certification from the Council for Professional Recognition, preferred education listed below or the ability to obtain a CDA within two-years from hire date.
- Associate degree or greater in child development or early childhood education. Equivalent coursework will be considered for candidates without a degree but have completed 60 or more credit hours.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend Spanish.
- Paid experience in a licensed childcare setting.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and regularly refresh a safe, age appropriate, welcoming, and trauma-informed classroom environment for enrolled children.
- Provide accurate, timely, record and data keeping and reporting.
- Attend trainings as instructed.
- Supervise classroom activities.
- Comply with mandated outcomes, program rules, applicable laws and program standards.
