About The Position

The Children's Division is looking for a motivated Full-Time ambitious Early Education Center Assistant Director. The Assistant Director of the Early Education Center will support the Director in overseeing the daily operations of the center, ensuring the delivery of high-quality early childhood education and care. This role involves working closely with staff, children, and families to create a nurturing and educational environment. The Early Education Center Assistant Director will assist in management of administrative duties, staff supervision, enrollment, maintenance of quality standards aligned with the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care, and compliance with state regulations.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in early childhood education, child development, or a related field
  • Certification as MA EEC Director II is required
  • Minimum of 3 – 5 years of experience in early childhood education
  • At least 1 – 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood development, curriculum planning, and educational best practices
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with staff, children, and families
  • Familiarity with Massachusetts EEC licensing regulations and NAEYC accreditation standards
  • Infant/Child CPR and First Aid certification is required.
  • Physicals are required upon hire and every two years.
  • MMRs are required upon hire.
  • A qualifying criminal background check, driving record, and a valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • A bachelor's or master's degree is preferred.
  • Preschool and Infant/Toddler Lead Teacher certification is preferred.
  • Knowledge of ProCare enrollment platform is preferred.
  • Experience with MA Child Care Financial Assistance / Kinderwait is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the center provides a safe, healthy, and engaging learning environment for all children
  • Support the Director in evaluating and updating program policies and procedures as needed
  • Support the Director in managing the center’s budget, including purchasing supplies and managing expenses
  • Assist with enrollment processes, including tours, orientations, and maintaining waitlists, utilizing Kinderwait/MyChildCareMA and ProCare
  • Maintain USDA compliance, training, and completion of monthly statistical reports
  • Oversee daily staffing assignments and classroom coverage plans to ensure compliance with EEC ratio, supervision, and qualification requirements
  • Monitor classroom schedules, curriculum implementation, and learning environments to ensure consistency, structure, and quality across all classrooms
  • Provide direct classroom support and leadership during staffing shortages, emergencies, or periods of increased operational need
  • Assist with implementation and oversight of behavior support strategies in collaboration with clinical and educational support staff
  • Ensure the center adheres to all state licensing requirements and health and safety regulations
  • Ensure timely completion and maintenance of required child records, staff files, attendance records, incident reports, medication documentation, and other regulatory documentation
  • Support preparation for EEC licensing visits, monitoring reviews, CACFP audits, accreditation reviews, and other regulatory inspections
  • Implement corrective actions as needed; maintain weekly and daily schedule of classroom coverage, assisting as needed to ensure that ratios and qualifications are met
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and supervising teaching and support staff; update individual professional development records and staff meeting binders monthly; and support staff with EEC teacher certification process
  • Foster strong, positive relationships with families and act as a liaison between families and the center; address and resolve parent concerns in a timely and professional manner
  • Facilitate marketing and outreach for early education programs, and work with the Director to represent People Incorporated on early childhood initiatives in the Greater Fall River area.
  • Assist in managing emergency situations and ensuring the safety of all children and staff
  • Address and mediate conflicts among staff, children, or parents, finding solutions that align with the center's policies
  • Lift and carry children and classroom materials, as well as sit on the floor or in child-sized furniture
  • Provide classroom supervision in indoor and outdoor settings
  • Assist with front office operations, including responding to phone calls, emails, visitors, and family inquiries
  • Provide class coverage as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, division management team member, or division director
  • Participate in all staff meetings and required training sessions, including in-service training, as scheduled
  • Maintain all program and Agency-required trainings
