About The Position

An early childhood teacher will create a nurturing and engaging learning environment for preschool-aged children, responsible for lesson planning, organizing, and managing their own classroom. This role involves developing and implementing a curriculum that fosters social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth through hands-on activities and play-based learning. The teacher will work closely with parents and caregivers to support each child's unique development and celebrate their milestones. Ideal candidates are enthusiastic, creative, and dedicated to making a meaningful impact on the lives of young learners in a supportive and imaginative atmosphere.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of child development and educational best practices
  • Ability to create age-appropriate lesson plans and learning activities
  • Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with children
  • Experience working with children 2-5
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with children, parents, and staff
  • Ability to solve problems as they arise
  • Must be dependable, energetic, and have a positive attitude
  • Ability to enforce Park District rules and safety practices
  • Certified in CPR/AED and First Aid is required

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree in Early Childhood Education or related field

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for preschool-aged children.
  • Create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment for all students.
  • Supervise children in outdoor and indoor settings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Foster social, emotional, and cognitive development through interactive play and structured activities.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians about children's progress and needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and coordinate special events and programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, and individual children's development.
  • Promote positive behavior and conflict resolution among students.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the classroom and outdoor spaces.
  • Guide children to develop their artistic and practical capabilities through carefully constructed curriculum
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with families through meetings, newsletters, and events to foster a strong community connection.
  • Utilize creative arts, music, and movement in daily activities to encourage self-expression and creativity among children.
