About The Position

Responsible for providing direct service to preschool students with disabilities. Responsible for assisting with and implementing special education instructional programs, specifically dealing with students with all exceptionalities.

Requirements

Must hold or be eligible for Va. Teacher License w/endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education
Considerable knowledge in content area of learning theory and applications.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Bachelors Degree in appropriate related field.
Must have a record of successful full-time teaching experience or have demonstrated a successful student teaching placement/internship.
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact.
Frequent walking, standing, lifting up to 50 pounds unassisted, and other physical activities are required.
Movement of students by wheelchairs and other mechanical devices may be required.
Occasional lifting of equipment such as audio-visuals, regular stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching and significant pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, and repetitive motions are also required.
Required to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a, personal computer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a classroom setting with special education preschool students preferred.
Masters Degree.
Experience working in a classroom setting with preschool students with identified disabilities that includes having implemented a variety of teaching strategies as well as data collection and its utilization.

Moderating IEP meetings.
Attendance to meetings outside the normal duty hours is often required.
