About The Position

This role involves developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for elementary and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) students. The teacher will be responsible for monitoring student progress, writing IEPs, communicating with stakeholders, and managing a classroom environment. Additionally, the role includes supervising classroom paraprofessionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Familiarity with all aspects of early childhood developmental stages.
  • Proficiency in IEP development and progress/goal monitoring reports.

  • Valid Missouri teacher certificate for the appropriate level.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and monitor IEPs for elementary/ECSE students.
  • Provide specialized instruction based on student needs.
  • Monitor individual student progress using data related to IEP goals.
  • Act as a case manager for assigned students.
  • Write IEPs to meet individual student needs.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, team members, staff, and agency representatives.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, orderly, and child-centered classroom environment.
  • Act as a day-to-day supervisor of classroom paraprofessionals.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to student maturity and interests.
  • Prepare for assigned classes and show evidence of preparation.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional techniques and media.
  • Assess student progress regularly and provide progress reports.
  • Take necessary precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records as required.
  • Comply with all district policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Develop classroom rules and maintain order.
  • Be available to students and parents for education-related purposes.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for teacher aides and volunteers.
  • Participate in district and campus staff development.
  • Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues.
  • Prepare and submit lesson plans in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a minimum number of grades in the grade book in a timely manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
