Early Childhood Special Education Paraprofessional
About The Position
This position involves assisting certified Early Childhood Special Education teachers in various aspects of classroom instruction and student support. The role requires monitoring students in different settings, preparing materials, maintaining a safe classroom environment, and providing one-on-one assistance. Specific duties include assisting with student hygiene (diaper changes, toilet training), feeding, life skills, and supporting medically fragile students within established guidelines. The paraprofessional may also assist with clerical tasks and conduct screeners as directed by supervisors.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Clean background check.
- Pass Paraprofessional Assessment at hire or have 60 college hours.
- Participate in required Paraprofessional module trainings provided by ADE.
Responsibilities
- Assist certified Early Childhood Special Education teachers with teaching as directed.
- Monitor students in the classroom, lunch room, bathroom area, hallways, and during recess time.
- Assist with data collecting of behaviors.
- Prepare curriculum materials and activities for instruction.
- Help with maintaining a safe/clean classroom.
- Work one on one with students when needed.
- Change diapers/training pants as needed.
- Assist with toilet training per IEP.
- Assist student with feeding as needed.
- Assist with life/functional skills.
- Assist with medically fragile students within medical guidelines.
- Assist with other classes as directed by supervisor and/or principal.
- Assist with other clerical tasks as directed by supervisor.
- Conduct screeners for early childhood special education as directed by supervisor.
