About The Position

The Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Teacher Aide supports preschool-aged children with disabilities by assisting teachers with instruction, managing behaviors, and providing personal care to implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals. They foster a safe, positive environment for social, emotional, and physical development, often working with children with varied developmental delays.

Requirements

A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Current CPR certification through AHA or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Incumbent will be required to complete a training plan of 25 hours of direct supervised client contact; and 25 hours of direct observational training in the following within 6 months of hire: Overview of IEPs, Evaluation Tools, and parent communication Ethical and legal responsibilities; Observing and data collection specific to the site population; and Record Keeping
Adhering to safety practices, applying assessment instruments, operating equipment used in early childhood special education, operating standard office equipment, including pertinent software applications, and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.
Ability to read technical information; compose a variety of documents and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems.
Age-appropriate activities; stages of child development; student behavior management skills; adaptive equipment; and special education models, practices and theories.
Ability to schedule activities, meetings and or events; gather, collate and or classify data; and use job-related equipment.
Flexibility is required to independently work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using standardized methods.
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of job-related equipment.
Problem-solving is required to analyze issues and create action plans.
Problem-solving with data may require independent interpretation; and problem-solving with equipment is moderate.
Being attentive to detail; communicating with diverse groups of people; maintaining confidentiality; working as part of a team; displaying tact and courtesy; being empathetic and nonjudgmental; and establishing and maintaining effective relationships, especially with students.

Nice To Haves

Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or enrollment in a Bachelor’s program preferred.

Responsibilities

Under ECSE supervision, provide special education services to students with disabilities.
Maintain a therapy schedule with individual students/groups of students and assist with all clerical work.
Monitor and report student problems, performance, and progress to the supervising ECSE.
Provide accurate documentation of therapy sessions/results.
Performs support duties such as preparing materials, keeping records, maintaining supplies, and scheduling activities.
Adopt/adapt a data collection system for the highest priority objectives for each student.
Select and/or prepare special education instructional materials.
Work with staff to implement child find activities.
Assist with child screenings and assessments.
Conduct in-service training sessions and family and community education programs.
Prepare charts, graphs, and other visual displays to communicate the client’s performance information.
Adhere to established policies, procedures, and regulations of the facility and the State of Wyoming.
Travel within Fremont County is required.
