About The Position

St Elizabeth School, located in the Washington Heights section of Manhattan, is a long established successful Catholic Prek through Grade 8 elementary school that prides itself in its legacy of serving the local community. St.Elizabeth is staffed by dedicated professionals who are committed to making children and families our prority. Our Early Childhood Program is part of the NYC 3K and PreK portfolio and is one that offers a School Day + option to include additional 3 hours and 20 minutes of care and enrichment for families. We are currently seeking an Early Childhood Director (ECD) to lead this high-quality program. The Early Childhood Director will be part of the school leadership team and report to and work with the principal, striving to achieve a shared vision that best fulfills the needs of our community. The ECD will also be part of a cohort of ADNY Education Directors working in Catholic schools and will receive coaching and training through the ADNY Office of Early Childhood and the NYC DOE.

Requirements

  • Master of Education in Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education or a related field (required)
  • Current New York State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood or Childhood Teaching ( required)
  • At least 3-5 years of experience as a teacher or school leader with classroom experience, including 3 years of experience as a lead teacher in an Early Childhood classroom ( required)
  • Experience working successfully in an inclusive and diverse work environment
  • Proficient in the use of technology (social media, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite) and the ability to learn various educational communication platforms
  • If offered the position, clearance through NYC PETS and NYS SCS will be required as will s ubmission of medical clearance/immunization records and completion of mandated NYC DOH health and safety trainings

Responsibilities

  • Works closely with the school principal to set, nurture and meet high expectations in terms of school culture, professionalism, cultural responsiveness and instruction
  • Acts as the main contact with Archdiocese Office of Early Childhood and NYCPS Division of Early Childhood Education
  • Ensures program compliance with the NYC PreK/3K policy and procedures
  • Ensures high quality implementation of the Creative Curriculum
  • Ensures the implementation of Positive Behavior Guidance, as per PFKA/3K guidelines
  • Trains and supervises staff in providing a program that meets the differentiated needs of the children and families served by the program
  • Conducts daily walk-throughs, models best practices and provides formative feedback to staff
  • Works with school principal to evaluate staff performance
  • Uses student and program assessment data to work with staff to meet the needs of all students
  • Guides staff working with children under the age of 6 in compliance protocols to meet NYC DOH Article 43 standards
  • Manages and assists admin staff in timely completion of all paperwork relating to PreK/3K
