About The Position

Under general direction, implement the Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation program, meeting standards and process stipulated by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth. Provide consultation and support to early childhood providers, children, and families. Facilitate the use of the DECA assessment by early childhood providers in support of social-emotional development and approaches towards learning. Provide weekly Dina School lessons using the Incredible Years Curriculum to childcare centers and schools throughout the county.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, or related field is preferred.
  • Experience of 2 years or more working in the early childhood field.
  • Early childhood mental health experience preferred.
  • Complete all OCCRRA required training to obtain a trauma informed care certificate as well as obtaining credentials.
  • Ability to obtain an ECMH credential is preferred.
  • Ability to collaborate and network with a wide variety of professionals from different disciplines.
  • Must have excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must have competent organizational skills, strong detail orientation and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must be able to work independently from general instructions and show initiative.
  • Must have good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office software.
  • Must be skilled in working with different cultures and in different community settings.
  • Must have a valid Ohio Drivers license and reliable means of transportation.
  • Final applicant is required to be fingerprinted to complete background check.

Responsibilities

  • Under direction, ensure that the activities of this position and relevant programs are consistent with the mission, vision and values of Catholic Charities, Diocese of Cleveland.
  • Provide Dina school lessons to childcare center and school classrooms weekly using the Incredibles Years curriculum.
  • Complete lesson planning for Dina school using songs, stories, puppets, and activities.
  • Create a weekly handout to be shared with parents to increase parent involvement in the program.
  • Administer the DECA assessment in all classrooms receiving Dina School. Share results with the administrators and teaching staff.
  • Be able to demonstrate an increase in children’s social and emotional well-being throughout the course of the school year by analyzing DECA results.
  • Assist the teaching staff in developing social and emotional strategies for their classrooms to assist with behavioral concerns.
  • Handle consultation cases for children with social and emotional needs and behavioral concerns. This will consist of observations and implementing strategies. Can be done in either the child’s classroom or home.
  • Meet with parents and teachers weekly to discuss the progress being made on any consultation cases.
  • Provide resources, referrals, or strategies as needed.
  • Have knowledge of other community agencies who may provide different levels of support and have positive working relationships with those agencies.
  • Keep reporting spreadsheets and/or websites up to date as required by the Ohio Department of Children and Youth.
  • Write quality, data driven notes on consultation cases.
  • Attend all required meetings with the ECMH team.
  • Attend any DCY meetings or conferences required of the position.
  • Serves as a mandated reporter and is required to report suspected child abuse or neglect.
  • Perform other duties as necessary to accomplish objectives.
