About The Position

Shaloh House, a Jewish Early Childhood Center in Stoughton, MA, is hiring an Afternoon Lead Teacher for their infant through Pre-K classrooms. This Reggio Emilia-inspired program, part of the Chabad Outreach network, is a small, close-knit school. The position focuses on the afternoon/closing shift. The school is looking for a patient, steady individual who is willing to learn and grow in the role, with opportunities for training towards Massachusetts teacher certification. Prior Jewish education experience or a completed early childhood degree are not required.

Requirements

• MA Lead Teacher certification preferred; candidates with a Teacher certification (or willingness to complete one)
• Comfortable and willing to change diapers and provide hands-on infant/toddler care
• Curious and coachable; open to feedback and continued learning
• Comfortable working in a Jewish educational environment (does not need to be Jewish)
• Willing to adhere to a modest dress code: skirts/dresses at or below the knee with leggings or shorts underneath for shorter skirts, at minimum short sleeves, no low necklines

Nice To Haves

• Prior Jewish education experience
• Completed early childhood degree

Responsibilities

• Lead classroom activities and transitions
• Redirect behavior by telling children what to do instead of only what not to do
• Respond calmly to children
• Change diapers and get down to children's physical level as part of daily infant and toddler care
• Bring genuine curiosity to the day — trying new sensory materials, going outside, following a child's question
• Maintain classroom structure around meals, naps, and transitions while treating each child's needs as distinct
• If not Jewish yourself, engage respectfully with our traditions and holiday observances, and be comfortable saying "I don't know, but I'd like to learn"
