About The Position

St. Matthew’s Parish School’s Early Childhood Program is looking for a talented early childhood educator who is passionate about working with preschool- kindergarten age children. We believe young children gain a sense of their identity and self-worth when they explore at their own pace and experience success at their developmental level. Learning at this age is through experiential interactions with materials, ideas, and other people. Play is one of the major ways in which young children learn about the world around them. Through play, children learn about language, develop intellectual concepts, build social relationships and understandings, strengthen physical skills and deal with stress. Children foster independence, strengthen skills, and master concepts through learning experiences that feature. Our program nurtures growth in all areas of human development: cognitive, physical, personal-social, creative, and spiritual. We respect each child’s pattern of development, recognizing the uniqueness of each young person while creating a supportive and caring peer group and school setting. During this time and as always, we are focused on the health and safety of our community. If our philosophy and values are a fit for you, we encourage you to apply. The Physical Education Teacher (“PE”) and After Care Coordinator (“AC”), will lead Physical Education classes for Preschool, Pre-K, and Kindergarten students and oversee and manage the Early Childhood After Care program. The After Care portion of this role is fully responsible for overseeing all students who stay for After Care and implementing fun activities in a safe and caring environment. They will supervise and run a well-thought-out and organized Physical Education program for our youngest students, teaching them how to care for their bodies and develop their gross motor skills. The PE Teacher/AC coordinator will ensure the children’s safety and well-being at all times including cleaning, sanitizing, and maintaining an organized environment, helping children with after school care, routines, and communicating with parents regarding After Care as necessary.
