About The Position

We are looking for a Before and After School Early Childhood Educators (RECE) to provide quality and inclusive care for children aged 6-8 years. The primary role is working in our Halton Before and After School programs to ensure the implementation of safe environments that highlight responsive interactions between children and staff, and promote the pedagogy as laid out in the How Does Learning Happen? Document. Providing supervision and engaging inclusive programs for children and our families. The individual in this role will provide a sense of belonging, well-being, expression and engagement to the staff and children in our program while adhering to all policies and procedures of the agency.

Requirements

  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education
  • Current knowledge and understanding of the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA)
  • Thorough knowledge of How Does Learning Happen?
  • Experience working with children in a child care setting
  • Record of up-to-date Immunization (TB Test, Tetanus, Polio, MMR)
  • Registered Early Childhood Educator, in good standing
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C Certification
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Check (done in the last 6 months)

Responsibilities

  • Enhanced support to Before and After School Programs in the Halton Community to improve access and the optimal participation of children with special rights in Today’s Family’s Licensed Child Care programs.
  • Ensure all children have opportunity to actively participate in the program and are supported to form authentic, caring relationships with their peers and educators.
  • Make intentional efforts to collaborate with program educators and make relevant and timely referrals and connections with other programs to support children’s needs with Program Supervisor and other educators.
  • Supervise, guide and assist children in daily activities (indoor and outdoor).
  • Provide a safe, caring, positive and inclusive environment.
  • Maintain up to date documentation of children’s development and learning.
  • Read each individual child's files within the program and be knowledgeable about his/her medical and developmental histories.
  • Interact with children to encourage their involvement in activities.
  • Provide a warm, safe, and caring environment that is kept orderly, clean, and inclusive.
  • Observe, plan, prepare, and implement daily activities (indoor/outdoor) and foster inclusive practices.
  • Maintaining supervision and fulfilling children’s well-being including toileting, feeding, and general self-care needs.
  • Work with other educators to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere.
  • Ensure confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Maintain adherence to all agency policies and procedures, including safety requirements.
  • Maintain open, friendly, and cooperative relationship with each child's family and encourage their involvement in the program.
