About The Position

Squamish Nation is seeking an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to join the Tin Mun Mun Daycare within Ta na wa Ch’awát ta Sx̱wéx̱wel – Squamish Valley Operations. Requirements

  • Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Certificate from a recognized post‑secondary institution.
  • Valid ECE License to Practice, or willingness to obtain within a set timeframe.
  • 1–2 years of directly related experience in a childcare or early learning environment.
  • Beginner‑level experience using Microsoft Office and internet‑based tools.
  • Professional, adaptable communication style with strong interpersonal skills.
  • High emotional intelligence, patience, and integrity when working with children and families.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in high‑pressure or dynamic environments.
  • Ability to share information tactfully and diplomatically with families and colleagues.
  • Team‑oriented, positive, and approachable attitude.
  • Strong commitment to ethical conduct and confidentiality.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Valid Food Safe Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Up‑to‑date immunization record.
  • Doctor’s letter/medical certificate confirming sound physical and psychological health.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working in a First Nations community—particularly Squamish—is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Welcome and care for children registered in the daycare program in a safe and nurturing environment.
  • Plan and deliver age‑appropriate activities and experiences that support children’s development.
  • Work collaboratively with the Daycare Team Leader to develop and implement individualized daycare service plans, incorporating traditional Squamish cultural healing and teaching methods.
  • Foster open, respectful, and positive communication with parents, caregivers, and the daycare team.
  • Ensure a healthy, safe, and supportive environment by maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Follow workplace health and safety policies, safe work practices, and procedures at all times.
  • Participate as an active team member within Family Centers and Tin Mun Mun Daycare.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support program success.
