About The Position

This is a part-time permanent position for an Early Childhood Educator, working 30 hours per week in Yaphank, NY. The role involves preparing and assisting with Early Childhood Programs, including the Little Farmers Preschool, and supporting festivals, special events, and day-to-day Farm Education programs as needed. The employment opportunity is with Cornell Cooperative Extension, which is a collaboration among Cornell University, the United States Department of Agriculture, the State of New York, and the residents of New York State. County and regional extension service associations are subordinate government agencies and employees are employed by their association, not Cornell University.

Requirements

• Associate's degree or similar degree with experience in Early Childhood Education or Outdoor Education
• Two years of paid or volunteer experience working with children and the public
• Ability to lift 10-20 pounds unassisted
• Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position
• Ability to meet acceptable background check standards, if required
• Ability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and weekends, as appropriate

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Environmental Education
• Additional education and training in the field of education
• Additional education in the areas of agriculture, animal sciences, natural sciences, human development, and consumer sciences
• Additional teaching experience related to educational areas listed above
• Experience teaching subjects related to agriculture, animal sciences, natural sciences, human development, and consumer sciences
• Experience working in Outdoor Education

Responsibilities

• Prepare and assist with Early Childhood Programs, including Little Farmers Preschool
• Assist with festivals and special events when necessary
• Assist with the day-to-day operations of Farm Education programs if necessary
