About The Position

The Early Childhood Educator (ECE) plays a vital role in supporting the wellbeing, learning, and development of children attending the Snuneymuxw First Nation Daycare. Reporting to the Daycare Manager, this position provides a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment that supports children’s physical, emotional, intellectual, social, and cultural growth. Guided by provincial and federal childcare regulations and Snuneymuxw First Nation policies, the ECE works collaboratively with colleagues and families to deliver high‑quality, culturally grounded early learning experiences.

Requirements

  • Early Childhood Educator Diploma and valid License to Practice
  • Current First Aid certification, including Child Safe and Infant CPR
  • Knowledge of child development theory, childcare legislation, and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to work positively with children, families, and team members
  • Cultural awareness and respect for Snuneymuxw First Nation and Coast Salish traditions
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills
  • Availability to successfully complete a Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening

Responsibilities

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for young children
  • Plan and deliver developmentally appropriate activities that support holistic child development
  • Integrate Snuneymuxw and Coast Salish culture into daily programming and experiences
  • Support children’s daily routines, behaviour guidance, and social‑emotional growth
  • Work closely with families, colleagues, and leadership to support positive outcomes for children
