About The Position

Navera Community Connections is seeking a passionate Early Childhood Educator (Level I, II, or III) to provide quality care for children aged 0-6 years old and interact cooperatively with parents. This is a full-time position at our 47-space Early Learning Centre, ED Feehan location. Navera Community Connections is a nonprofit organization with a vision of thriving people and connected communities, serving the Saskatoon and surrounding area since 1941. Our mission is to enrich the lives of the people we serve by navigating challenges and creating possibilities through early learning centres, counselling and mental health services, and a range of community programs.

Requirements

  • Early Childhood Educator (ECE) Level I, II, or III is required.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate.
  • Experience in Early Learning working with children ages 0-6.
  • Knowledge and understanding of child development.
  • Proven ability to model and promote positive relationships with children and families.
  • Strong ethical conduct, ability to deal appropriately with confidential information/situations with sensitivity and discretion.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, collaborates and works well with others in a team environment.
  • Observes and navigates everyday situations with children, parents, and employees as they arise.
  • Shows judgement and appropriate level of decision-making.
  • Flexible to adapt readily to interruptions, changes, and shifts in tasks and circumstances, including conflict and sometimes stressful situations.
  • May deal with unpredictable child behaviour.
  • Shows competence, respect and empathy in working with diverse and vulnerable populations and groups.
  • Personal compatibility with the values of Navera Community Connections.
  • All employment offers contingent on obtaining a valid Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search.

Responsibilities

  • Provide physical care and engagement for children of all ages.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate developmental activities for children.
  • Observe and monitor the development and health of children, keeping accurate individual progress records (childcare sheets).
  • Work with parents to cooperatively plan for the care of their children.
  • Communicate directly with specifically assigned parents in a supportive and encouraging way.
  • Report children’s health and progress to parents daily and providing parents access to copies of their children’s files.
  • Model behaviour that nurtures and supports healthy family living and mutual respect.
  • Work in coordination with other team members to create an open and adaptive environment.
  • Maintain an environment that protects the health, security, and safety of children.
  • May be involved in planning and preparing children’s meals and snacks.
  • Attend and contribute to staff meetings.
  • May participate on internal committees or represent Navera Community Connections on external committees as appropriate.
  • Understand and actively apply the mission, vision, and values of Navera Community Connections.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
