Requirements
- Early Childhood Educator Assistant certificate
- Current First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain
- Successful completion of Agency screening process, including a criminal record check
- Must be legally authorized to work in Canada (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and individuals with refugee status who are legally entitled to work in Canada).
Responsibilities
- Assists in planning, preparing and carrying out developmentally appropriate program and activities, including indoor/outdoor, active/quiet, and individual/group activities.
- Ensures activities adhere to BGC Okanagan Policies and Childcare Licensing Regulations.
- Monitors, guides, and assists children in daily activities.
- Attends to children’s physical needs, which may include diapering, toileting, eating, and sleeping.
- Models developmentally appropriate activities and positive behavior management techniques.
- Conducts activities with children on an individual and group basis to promote the development of physical, cognitive, emotional, and social skills.
- Keeps program facilities and equipment safe and clean, reporting any repairs and concerns to senior staff.
- Administers first aid and medication in accordance with established policy.
- Ensures a healthy and safe environment in which children can interact, identifying and removing potential hazards.
- Maintains records and reports problems or concerns to senior staff.
- Establishes positive relationships and open communication with parents/guardians.
