About The Position

The faculty member shall be responsible for teaching assigned classes, helping students achieve their full potential in mastering course content, assessing student learning outcomes, and maintaining up-to-date knowledge in their field. This role also involves continuing professional development, utilizing current technology, maintaining professional conduct and ethics, assisting with curriculum development and review, serving on college committees, participating in faculty governance, and fulfilling other duties of a full-time faculty member. The department emphasizes equity-minded teaching, closing equity gaps for underserved students, designing culturally responsive and inclusive learning environments, and using Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The position requires experience teaching and supporting diverse student populations, willingness to adjust instructional practices, knowledge of pedagogical approaches for diverse developmental and neurological differences in young children, and understanding of effective practices for supporting second-language learners and multilingual families. Collaboration with community partners and a commitment to ongoing learning in equity, antiracism, and cultural humility are also key aspects of this role. The instructional assignment may include teaching courses such as ECE 320 Curriculum and Interactions in Early Childhood Education, ECE 321 Advanced Practicum in Early Childhood Education, ECE 350 Introduction to Elementary Teaching with Field Experience, and ECE 430 Culture and Diversity in Early Childhood Education.

Requirements

Have a master’s in child development, early childhood education, human development, home economics/ family and consumer studies with a specialization in child development/early childhood education or educational psychology with a specialization in child development/early childhood education; OR bachelor’s in any of the above AND master’s in social work, educational supervision, elementary education, special education, psychology, bilingual/bicultural education, life management/home economics, family life studies or family and consumer studies; OR the equivalent.
All degrees must be from an accredited institution completed by January 4, 2027.

Foreign transcripts evaluations must be issued by an AICE (Association of International Credential Evaluation, Inc.) or NACES (National Association of Credential Evaluation Services) member agency.
If more than one degree is required to meet the Minimum Qualifications (e.g., a bachelor’s and a master’s), separate transcripts for each degree must be included.
Transcripts must clearly identify the institution's name, degree title, major and/or certifications.
Transcripts must indicate whether each degree is completed (confer date) or in progress.
Only official or unofficial transcripts are accepted to verify education.

Assuming other responsibilities as assigned by the area dean
Fulfilling other duties and responsibilities of a full-time faculty member
