About The Position

The Playing Field is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking the barriers low-income families face in accessing high-quality early care and education. We actively confront the challenges of cost, transportation, and high rates of preschool expulsions. Through our unique models for enrollment, funding, and staff development, we ensure that no child is denied access to quality early childhood services. As a part-time Early Childhood Bus Aide, you will ensure the safety and supervision of diverse groups of children during transportation. This onsite role offers scheduling flexibility with morning routes, afternoon routes, or split-shift options. It is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking for summer work, with the stability of staying on for the full school year.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Coursework in Early Childhood Education, or a willingness to complete it within 30 days of hire.
  • Demonstrated experience working with young children.
  • Ability to physically move around the building, the bus, and outdoors.
  • Ability to safely lift children up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to kneel, squat, and move easily to a standing position from a low chair or the floor.
  • Must successfully pass a comprehensive background check and fingerprinting prior to hire.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure Safety: Maintain strict supervision and safety protocols for children during boarding, transit, and drop-off.
  • Build Relationships: Establish positive, effective connections with children, families, and staff members.
  • Maintain Compliance: Keep absolute confidentiality regarding student and family information at all times.
  • Foster a Nurturing Environment: Serve as a positive, supportive adult role model for children during their daily commute.
