About The Position

This position oversees classroom curriculum and classroom management under the coaching and guidance of the Director of Preschool Services. They ensure the implementation of developmentally appropriate practices in the classroom environment. The role involves managing classroom schedules, assisting with Individual Treatment Plans (ITPs), leading parent and therapist meetings, overseeing habilitative services, supervising direct care, and ensuring accurate documentation. The coach also monitors safety during recess, oversees curriculum supplies, leads curriculum and team meetings, provides feedback to teaching staff, and models appropriate teaching techniques. Additionally, the role involves assisting with multidisciplinary and parent conferences, observing classroom activities, managing the kindergarten transition process, and assisting with corrective action plans and quality assurance reviews. The position also aids in the hiring process and new hire orientation, monitors for childcare licensing violations, and may perform other related duties. Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people.

  • Computer skills which include a working knowledge of database, word processing, spreadsheet, and internet software.

  • Associates degree with active pursuit of a bachelor’s degree, required.
  • Must possess one of the following: Current Arkansas state certification in Early Childhood or Early Childhood Special Education; A current Child Development Associate Certificate; A current Birth to Pre-K credential; or, Documented experience working with children with special needs and twelve (12) hours of completed college courses in any of the following areas: Early Childhood; Child Development; Special Education/Elementary Education; or Child and Family Studies.
  • Two years of successful experience in a classroom setting working with developmentally at-risk children or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee implementation of classroom curriculum on a weekly basis.
  • Create preschool classroom schedules for individual classrooms, the library, recess, lunch, and special events, and modifies as needed.
  • Create and distribute monthly classroom calendar to all preschool classrooms.
  • Aid in communication to therapists concerning classroom curriculum and activities in conjunction with the Administration team.
  • Oversee the development of Individual Treatment Plans (ITP) as needed and monitors each ITP for progress/goal completion.
  • Lead meetings, as needed, with each child’s parent/guardian and/or therapist.
  • Oversee the provision of Habilitative Services in the classroom.
  • Supervise the direct care provided to EIDT recipients.
  • Participate in one-on-one meetings with leader.
  • Participate in 45- and 90-day reviews for all new enrollees in the preschool.
  • Serve as Lead monitor of Recess Zones for safety and Indoor Recess Quality.
  • Ensure all classroom documentation is completed in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensure completion of Handwriting Without Tears and Kindergarten Readiness assessments twice per year as outlined in the academic calendar to be presented to parents at the annual Parent Teacher Conference.
  • Assist in classrooms as required by center needs.
  • Refer non-classroom management related issues to the Director of Preschool Services.
  • Oversee curriculum supply list and ensures acquisition of supplies.
  • Maintain and submit receipts and budget for each month.
  • Lead weekly toddler and Pre-K curriculum meetings during the weekly lead teacher meeting.
  • Lead a classroom team meeting with each classroom team at least once a month and reports agenda and findings to the administrative team.
  • Provide feedback and follow-up to each classroom and/or individual teacher during the monthly classroom team or individual meeting as needed.
  • Model appropriate teaching/engagement/interaction as needed following the classroom team meeting.
  • Work to effectively train teaching staff as needed for optimal classroom functioning.
  • Actively attend and contribute to all required administrative meetings.
  • Assist with multidisciplinary conferences and parent conferences as needed.
  • Observe and support as needed in classroom activities in each classroom on a regular basis. Activities to include: Circle Time, Center Time, Arrivals, Departures, Transition Activities, Academic Activities, Recess Time, Nap.
  • Complete an observation note for each classroom observation.
  • Report a summary of pertinent findings from observations during the weekly one-on-one with the Director of Preschool Services.
  • Oversee the Kindergarten transition process, including coordinating and attending transition conferences and referral meetings for children graduating into kindergarten.
  • Oversee required Kindergarten transition paperwork as compiled and completed by the Site Support Specialists.
  • Assists Director of Preschool Services with creation and/or implementation of corrective action plans as needed.
  • Ensure completion and accuracy of all classroom documentation and practices through quality assurance review.
  • Assist in the hiring process and new hire orientation for classroom staff, including the follow-up process for new hires with classroom observations as needed.
  • Monitor classrooms for Arkansas Childcare Licensing violations. Addresses any noted issues with classroom and notifies the Director of Preschool Services.
  • May perform other related and non-related duties, as assigned.
