About The Position

We are looking for individuals who understand early childhood and development as a critical phase of life, appreciate the bond between a child and family, and respond to children's needs based on environment, culture, family, and community. The ideal candidate will respect and honor the diversity of every individual (child, family member, and colleague) and establish trusting relationships as the base for success. This role requires the ability to work from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

• Must meet basic requirements of local child care regulatory agency
• Knowledge of the social, emotional and creative needs of young children
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations.

Nice To Haves

• Previous teaching or assistant teaching position in a licensed early childhood program preferred
• 2-year degree in early childhood or related field preferred

Responsibilities

• Is responsible for the overall supervision and daily class functions of a group of preschoolers.
• Observes all rules and regulations at The Denver Athletic Club and the local, state or national regulatory agencies pertaining to the health, safety and care of children.
• Assesses each child's developmental needs on an ongoing basis.
• Plans with a member of the Leadership Team the parent-teacher conferences and student evaluations.
• Maintains an attractive, well-kept classroom that encourages children to create, explore and make decisions with confidence.
• Attends all required staff meetings, workshops and/or school functions.
• Assists in other capacities that Director, or designee, determines are necessary.
