About The Position

St. Therese Early Education Center (EEC) is seeking a passionate and dedicated Early Childhood Aide to join our team from August – May. This position is Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 7:30 – 3:15 in our 4-5 year old classroom. An ideal candidate for this position has a strong background in early childhood education as well as a genuine love for working with young children. As an Early Childhood Teacher Assistant, you are responsible for helping during centers, art projects, small groups and supporting the students and teacher. We are looking for a creative, nurturing and compassionate individual to help shape the educational experiences of our young learners.

Requirements

• Experience working with young children in a preschool setting
• Strong knowledge of early childhood development principles and practices.
• Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents and colleagues.
• Familiarity with the Catholic understanding of ministry an asset.
• This position requires standing on multiple floor surfaces, sitting on the floor, and lifting. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted on a daily basis.
• All employees are required to consent to a background check, commit to our Code of Conduct policy, and complete online and in-person trainings prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist the lead teacher in creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment that encourages exploration and learning.
• Help implement lessons that are developmentally appropriate, hands-on and engaging
• Use a variety of methods to assess and monitor students’ progress
• Monitor rest time, outside play and afternoon snack
• Collaborate with other educators and staff to create a cohesive educational experience for all students
• Install a love for Christ and weave Catholic teachings into daily activities.
• Knowledge and ability to change diapers and help with potty training.
