Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as early childhood education/child development and/or related discipline.
  • OCT Certification
  • Minimum of four (4) years of relevant experience as an Instructor, preferably within higher education or the services sector.
  • Experience in managing international students by creating a climate in which students want to do their best.
  • Commitment to cultural diversity and ethical practice principles, and demonstrating knowledge of equal treatment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Strong time-management skills.
  • Maintaining confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field is desirable.
  • Microsoft certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, design, and update the course curriculum for Early Childcare Assistant Courses to ensure optimum student learning and engagement.
  • Plan and select suitable teaching techniques, including lectures, discussions, and audio-visual presentations, to adapt to various students’ needs.
  • Administer, record grades, and ensure timely evaluations.
  • Provide assessment reports for courses to the Departmental head as required.
  • Act as an advisor and counsel students about the course when required.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to students, guiding them on preparation and navigation through the course.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and proactively participate in resolving students’ concerns.
  • Develop students' skills for successful and practical application of acquired learning in the real world.
  • Stay current in the discipline area through ongoing professional development, including back-to-industry experiences, conferences, and trainings.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional meetings, student functions, and other college activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
