About The Position

Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for an Early-Career Geotechnical Engineer in our Houston, TX office. The position will have the opportunity to apply academic knowledge to real-world situations on projects involving site characterization; shallow and deep foundations; retaining structures; numerical analysis of stability and deformation; geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring; and geohazard characterization and mitigation, while learning the business skills needed for a successful consulting career. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in geotechnical engineering
  • Excellent writing and communication skills
  • Regular field work and overnight travel
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or PhD degree in geotechnical engineering
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certification
  • Prior internship or work experience in engineering consulting
  • Strong fundamentals in geotechnical engineering theory and practice
  • Experience with geotechnical and engineering software such as AutoCAD, SLIDE, and PLAXIS

Responsibilities

  • Conducting geotechnical field investigations
  • Performing and reviewing engineering calculations
  • Developing, installing, and managing instrumentation and monitoring systems
  • Developing construction documents
  • Monitoring heavy civil construction projects
  • Writing and reviewing engineering reports
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed
