About The Position

The Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Technician position is based at Marathon Pipe Line’s Texas City Docks and NGL Complex in Texas City, TX. This position works in and around LPG and products facilities executing electrical, controls and instrumentation duties at terminal and pipeline facilities. The E&I tech will perform such duties as: installation, maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, repairs, and system development for all systems including motor controls, distributive controls, PLC’s, communications systems such as satellite, cellular, RF systems, SCADA operations maintenance and any other technical issues that may arise as well as work independently while working in a team environment. All duties will be completed in accordance with all regulations in support of DOT, Environmental, Safety, and Regulatory compliance. Travel, callouts, and overtime will be required on an as-needed basis. Marathon Pipe Line LLC operates more than 10,000 miles of underground pipeline in 26 states. The successful candidate is required to live within 45 minutes of the reporting location in Texas City, TX.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills is expected.
  • Must be able to pass drug test and background check.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate’s degree in a technical field and/or Journeyman level qualified preferred but not required.
  • Previous pipeline experience preferred, with emphasis on electrical/instrumentation/mechanical.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tasks associated with routine maintenance, facility instrumentation and measurement devices.
  • Accountable for final control elements, such as process control, safety and emergency shutdown, fire detection and suppression, gas detection, wiring and control panels, in addition to other duties as directed.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot and repair PLC’s, communications and partner with SCADA and Engineering personnel as appropriate.
  • Maintain and update all system documentation, including loop diagrams, panel drawings, as well as relevant discipline control and internal documents to support the business.
  • Complete all required training and perform work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all Environmental, Safety and Regulatory requirements.
