About The Position

The E&I Technician, Surface plays a critical role in ensuring the reliable operation and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation systems at surface facilities. This position involves troubleshooting, repairing, and installing electrical and instrumentation equipment to support production and operational efficiency. The technician will work closely with engineering and operations teams to maintain compliance with safety and quality standards while minimizing downtime. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential issues and implementing effective solutions to maintain system integrity. Ultimately, the E&I Technician contributes to the seamless functioning of surface operations, supporting overall business objectives and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited electrical or instrumentation technician program is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical and instrumentation maintenance, preferably in surface facility environments.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation devices, control systems, and related safety standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to various surface sites within the United States as required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential for diagnosing issues and implementing timely repairs.
  • Communication skills facilitate collaboration with multidisciplinary teams and clear documentation of work performed.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Technology, Instrumentation, or a related field.
  • Experience working in the oil and gas, energy, or industrial manufacturing sectors.
  • Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), distributed control systems (DCS), and SCADA systems.
  • Certification in electrical safety, such as NFPA 70E or OSHA electrical safety training.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with maintenance management software and diagnostic tools.
  • Knowledge of PLCs and control systems enhance the technician’s ability to work with advanced automation technologies.
  • Proficiency with safety standards and software tools supports compliance and efficient workflow management in daily operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and preventive maintenance on electrical and instrumentation equipment at surface facilities.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, control panels, instrumentation devices, and related components to ensure optimal performance.
  • Install new electrical and instrumentation equipment according to engineering specifications and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with operations and engineering teams to diagnose and resolve technical issues promptly, minimizing operational disruptions.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and equipment status to support compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulatory requirements while performing all tasks to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency.
