About The Position

Inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used by production and manufacturing equipment to ensure they meet established performance levels and product quality standards. Works under immediate supervision, relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines, and typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Requirements

May require a high school diploma or equivalent.
May require previous experience in the field or a related area.
Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
Ability to perform job functions by following instructions and pre-established guidelines.

Responsibilities

Inspect meters, indicators, and gauges for abnormal fluctuations.
Test the accuracy of flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters or detectors, and other recording, indicating, or controlling instruments to locate defective components, using relevant test equipment.
Trace and test electronic solid-state and vacuum-tube circuitry and components to locate defective parts in analog and digital, protection, or radiation-monitoring systems, using test equipment, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
Remove defective instruments from systems; decontaminate, disassemble, and clean instruments; and replace defective parts using hand tools.
Reassemble instruments and reinstall them in systems using hand tools.
Lubricate instruments and replace defective wiring and tubing.
Calibrate instrument readings according to standards and adjust phasing and align stages to ensure accurate recording and indicating functions.
Record calibrations made, parts and components used, and inventory of parts on hand.
Prepare schematic drawings, sketches, and reports documenting changes or alterations made to instruments.
Observe and comply with all safety and project rules.
Perform other duties as required.
