About The Position

The Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) Maintenance Technician is responsible for safely performing preventive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on the electrical and process-control systems that support reliable pulp and paper mill operations. This position troubleshoots, repairs, installs, calibrates, and maintains equipment such as motors, variable-frequency drives, motor control centers, switchgear, PLCs, DCS systems, flow meters, pressure sensors, control valves, and other industrial instrumentation. The E&I Technician responds promptly to equipment breakdowns, identifies root causes, and completes effective repairs to minimize downtime and restore production safely. Responsibilities also include interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical manuals; documenting completed work in the computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); and providing clear updates during shift handovers. This role works closely with production, maintenance, and engineering teams to coordinate repairs and planned maintenance activities.

Requirements

  • At least three years of industrial electrical and instrumentation experience, preferably in a pulp or paper mill.
  • Strong knowledge of 480V and 4160V electrical systems, motor controls, PLCs, DCS controls, and process instrumentation.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, including compliance with Lockout/Tagout, arc-flash, confined-space, and PPE requirements.
  • Ability to work in an industrial environment with noise, dust, temperature changes, climbing, lifting, and confined spaces.
  • Successful completion of the company’s entry assessment, written E&I test, and hands-on skills test.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate repairs and planned maintenance activities with production, maintenance, and engineering teams.
