About The Position

The E-House Assembly Quality Control Inspector verifies that modular electrical buildings, e-houses, and associated enclosures are assembled according to approved engineering drawings, bills of materials, customer specifications, installation requirements, and company quality procedures. The role performs in-process and final inspections of structural components, panels, doors, penetrations, HVAC openings, equipment supports, hardware, sealing systems, insulation, coatings, and other assembly components. The inspector checks dimensional accuracy, installation, fit and finish, weatherproofing, and required documentation. The inspector works with Production, Engineering, Electrical Quality Control, Paint Quality Control, and the QC Supervisor to identify defects, prevent nonconforming work from advancing, verify rework, and confirm acceptance before the e-house moves to the next production stage. The role may place work on hold, prevent concealment of uninspected work at designated hold points, reject work that fails documented acceptance criteria, and request Engineering clarification for drawing or installation issues. The inspector does not redesign components, change engineering requirements, authorize undocumented modifications, or make independent engineering dispositions. The position is based at the West Houston, Texas facility (PES, non-union). Work is primarily in e-house assembly areas on the production floor, including inside, around, and on top of structures, with office time for records and reporting. Conditions include noise, dust, overhead cranes, forklifts, power tools, welding and cutting operations, and seasonal temperature variation. Required PPE must be worn; roof and elevated inspections may require fall protection. Occasional extended hours may be required to support production schedules and customer delivery commitments. The role requires frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing ladders, stairs, and elevated work platforms, and using measuring instruments.

Requirements

  • Experience in manufacturing quality inspection, industrial assembly, modular building assembly, or a related field.
  • Experience inspecting e-houses, modular electrical buildings, electrical enclosures, industrial skids, or similar assemblies.
  • Experience with panel installation, roof systems, doors, weatherproofing, sealants, insulation, and HVAC interfaces.
  • Familiarity with water-ingress testing and verification of corrective actions.
  • Experience with NCRs, punch lists, inspection travelers, and ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Familiarity with torque verification and coordination with electrical quality inspectors.
  • Experience using digital inspection forms, spreadsheets, and document control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, assembly details, BOMs, and installation instructions.
  • Knowledge of dimensional inspection, mechanical fit-up, fastening, sealing, and general manufacturing workmanship.
  • Ability to use common inspection tools, including tape measures, squares, levels, and other dimensional measuring equipment.
  • Ability to recognize defects, document findings, and communicate effectively with production personnel.
  • Ability to follow inspection procedures and maintain accurate quality records.
  • Ability to apply documented acceptance criteria consistently.
  • Ability to perform frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing ladders, stairs, and elevated work platforms to inspect walls, roofs, and confined areas.
  • Ability to wear required PPE and use fall protection where required for roof and elevated inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Verify that the base has completed required inspections and has been released for assembly.
  • Review current approved assembly drawings, BOMs, installation instructions, and customer requirements; verify materials match the approved documentation and identify missing, damaged, incorrect, or discrepant items before installation.
  • Verify base dimensions, mounting interfaces, lifting features, and structural supports have been accepted, and confirm unresolved nonconformances affecting assembly have approved dispositions before work proceeds.
  • Inspect wall panels and structural assemblies for identification, orientation, placement, alignment, plumbness, straightness, squareness, fit, joints, connections, fasteners, supports, brackets, framing, and mounting hardware.
  • Verify field modifications and alterations are authorized and meet approved requirements; document and escalate gaps, fit-up problems, dimensional discrepancies, and other defects.
  • Inspect roof panel placement, alignment, fastening, seams, transitions, caps, flashing, drip edges, and perimeter interfaces.
  • Verify sealants, gaskets, closures, and weatherproofing are correctly located and properly applied; inspect for continuity, adhesion, coverage, voids, skips, gaps, and workmanship defects.
  • Inspect roof penetrations, conduit and HVAC openings, and other interfaces for approved sealing; coordinate required water-ingress or other weatherproofing tests, document results, and verify repairs through reinspection or retesting.
  • Verify roof and weatherproofing inspections are completed before insulation or other components conceal the work.
  • Inspect door frames, panels, hinges, handles, locks, hardware, alignment, clearances, operation, latching, and sealing; confirm doors open and close without binding or interference.
  • Inspect interior and exterior trim, corner trim, wall transitions, roof-to-wall interfaces, wall brackets, mounting plates, covers, accessories, cutouts, and penetrations; verify dimensions, locations, edge condition, finish, and sealing.
  • Verify equipment supports, mounting brackets, attachment points, and mounting locations against approved drawings; inspect HVAC openings, support structures, equipment interfaces, clearances, mounting hardware, and specified torque documentation where applicable.
  • Confirm equipment does not interfere with doors, panels, access routes, or other assemblies, and that access panels, removable covers, and service clearances are maintained.
  • Coordinate with Electrical QC on applicable electrical inspection and release requirements; verify required inspections occur before insulation, mastic, interior liners, or other materials conceal work.
  • Inspect insulation coverage, fit, thickness, workmanship, penetrations, joints, and interfaces; verify concealed-work inspections and required photographs or records are complete before concealment.
  • Reinspect rework involving insulation removal, mastic removal, panel removal, or resealing.
  • Inspect assembled panels and finished surfaces for scratches, dents, chipped paint, damaged coatings, contamination, and handling damage; verify repairs and touch-ups meet approved coating systems and customer requirements.
  • Identify coating damage caused by drilling, cutting, welding, fastening, or handling; verify exposed edges and modified areas receive required corrosion protection and finishing; coordinate technical review with Paint QC when needed.
  • Identify and document nonconforming materials, installation defects, workmanship issues, and drawing discrepancies; place affected work on hold when acceptance requirements are not met.
  • Complete inspection checklists, travelers, punch lists, and quality records, including pass/fail results, measurements, comments, photographs, and applicable drawing revisions.
  • Verify inspection hold points are complete, maintain traceability of records to the job and e-house assembly, and confirm defects are corrected or formally dispositioned before release.
  • Communicate assembly status, outstanding quality concerns, and release restrictions in production meetings and daily quality updates.
  • Perform final assembly inspections before transfer to integration, electrical completion, customer testing, or other designated production stages.
  • Maintain inspection independence, document actual findings accurately, and escalate unresolved issues to the QC Supervisor.
  • Support occasional extended hours when required by production schedules and customer delivery commitments.
