About The Position

The E&C Engineer (Engineer II / Project Manager Engineering II) is responsible for managing capital engineering projects from initiation through completion ("cradle to grave"). These roles support either base capital projects at existing generation facilities (natural gas and coal) or strategic capital initiatives involving large, complex projects such as renewable energy systems and major infrastructure upgrades. Both positions require strong technical engineering knowledge combined with project management expertise to ensure safe, cost-effective, and timely project execution. The client is specifically interested in a resource that has led electrical projects with a construction background. Projects include equipment such as protection relays, GSUs, transformers, and motors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or related discipline)
  • 5–7 years of engineering experience (preferred for Level II roles)
  • Minimum 2 years of project management experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and align stakeholders
  • Highly organized with strong prioritization and multitasking ability
  • Self-driven with initiative and accountability
  • Experience working in a matrixed organization
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Valid driver's license required

Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle project management including scope development, execution, and closeout
  • Validate project justification and ensure stakeholder requirements are incorporated into scope
  • Manage project budget, schedule, quality, and safety performance
  • Coordinate procurement activities including hiring engineering consultants, contractors, and ordering materials/equipment
  • Oversee project execution and conduct periodic field visits to monitor progress
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements for vendors, contractors, and suppliers
  • Review and support design documentation and engineering drawings
  • Conduct vendor/shop inspections and witness equipment testing when needed
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, environmental, sourcing, project controls, and engineering teams
  • Facilitate project closeout and transition to operations teams
